At least 232 women and girls were raped in September across the country, said a report of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP), a voluntary women’s organisation.

The BMP data, revealed on Wednesday, shows that at least 521 women fell victim to violence in September across the country.

Of them, 198 were raped, 19 women were victims of gang-rape and 15 women were killed after the rape. Fifteen others were also victim of attempt-to-rape, said the BMP report, prepared based on various reports of 14 newspapers of the country.

At least 30 women were victims of sexual harassment, 17 women abducted, 41 women and girls were killed due to various reasons, 21 women faced physical torturing and five of them were killed due to dowry, 11 women and girls six were victims of eve-teasing, 18 women committed suicide, 29 were killed mysteriously and, according to the report.
